Sleek, Modern Kitchen in Lansing
This Lansing, MI kitchen design created a modern, bright kitchen that matches the design vibe of the modern ranch style home. The client wanted the kitchen to feel more open, brighter, and connected to the adjacent dining room and hallway. The resulting sleek, modern design is perfect for everyday life and entertaining guests. To create a more open space, we removed the half wall between the kitchen and dining room, removed the soffits, and opened up the doorways. The kitchen cabinet finishes were chosen to blend with the dining room and the kitchen window was re-trimmed in the same square stained trim as the doors to create a unified look. The cabinet finish is accented by a symmetrically stacked glass tile that brings more light into the space and creates a pop of color. The cabinet design includes customized storage to improve the room’s efficiency. We created a small baking center on one side of the kitchen cabinet design with flip up cabinet doors and LED in-cabinet lights, making it simple for the homeowner to slide out her stand mixer and baking tools. Another handy storage center with a flip up door was installed on the opposite wall to give the design symmetry. The design included a workstation sink that allows the homeowner to use it for much more than just washing dishes. New wood flooring was installed in the kitchen and down the hallway to the front entrance, which brings continuity to the space.
